Ceramic Coating vs Wax: Why It Lasts So Much Longer

Traditional wax sits on top of your paint as a sacrificial layer. It looks great fresh out of the bay, but UV, rain and regular washing break it down within a matter of weeks.
Ceramic coating works differently — it's a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to the clear coat, forming a hard, glass-like layer instead of just sitting on the surface. That bond is what gives it multi-year durability instead of multi-week.
Beyond longevity, the coating resists UV fading, chemical staining from things like bird droppings or tree sap, and water spotting. Water beads and rolls straight off instead of sitting and drying into marks.
It also makes maintenance easier day to day — dirt and grime have nothing to grip onto, so a coated car comes clean with far less scrubbing than an uncoated one.
The trade-off is preparation. A proper ceramic coating job starts with a full decontamination and paint correction, because the coating locks in whatever condition the paint is in when it goes on — swirl marks and all. That's why it's a multi-step service, not a quick add-on.
